We are delighted to join with many other partners to support the NI YEAR OF INFRASTRUCTURE 2018 – #INFRA2018 , an initiative by the Institution of Civil Engineers NI, designed to showcase the importance of strategic infrastructure to our everyday lives and wellbeing.
We are particularly looking forward to Waste Month in March, where we will examine the importance of delivering 21st century solutions to manage our growing waste levels. Using all our waste efficiently and effectively and treating it as a valuable resource will help us meet landfill diversion targets. To make this happen, we need to develop significant new waste management infrastructure and this is where the Becon project comes in. This will operate alongside existing and new recycling programmes and help divert residual municipal waste from landfill through the extraction of valuable materials for recycling and where possible the generation of sustainable energy – processes that are common practice across the rest of Europe.
