The recent planning decision announced by the Minister for Infrastructure on Sunday 27th March following the dissolution of the NI Assembly ahead of the election on 5th May went against the clear recommendation given by the Strategic Planning Directorate to approve the arc21 Residual Waste Treatment project. That means the arc21 planning application has now been recommended for approval on four separate occasions including by the independent Planning Appeals Commission.
We have now uploaded the various documents pertaining to this decision including the original short decision email from the Minister, the detailed Development Management Report from the Strategic Planning Directorate which recommended approval and the subsequent official Decision Notice. They can be found here – https://becon.co.uk/becon-project/downloads/#73-81-wpfd-planning-decision-docs
We continue to work alongside arc21 to understand the Minister’s rationale for deciding to refuse the planning application before considering our next steps.
